Chelsea put on a show at Molineux, with a rampant 6-2 win over Wolves. Noni Madueke scored a hat-trick, with Cole Palmer assisting all three of his strikes. Look back at the best facts and analyse the Opta data from this Premier League match with our Wolves vs Chelsea stats page.

Chelsea went goal crazy at Molineux in this match, with a six-goal performance to blow Wolverhampton Wanderers aside. With the scores locked at 2-2 going into half-time, the Blues came out for the second half in the mood to impress.

Noni Madueke scored his first Premier League hat-trick in the space of 14 second-half minutes, with all three goals assisted by Cole Palmer. Palmer had earlier scored himself, adding to Nicolas Jackson’s early opener for the Blues.

First-half goals from Matheus Cunha and Jørgen Strand Larsen for Wolves set up an exciting second-half, but they had no answer to Chelsea’s free-scoring attack. Enzo Maresca’s fantastic afternoon was completed by a goal from João Félix, who combined with fellow substitute Pedro Neto – who only left Wolves earlier this month – to complete the scoring.

Wolves vs Chelsea: Post-Match Facts

  • Noni Madueke scored his first senior hat-trick with all three goals assisted by Cole Palmer – it is just the fifth time a player has assisted a teammate three or more times in the same Premier League game, after Mike Newell for Alan Shearer and Stan Collymore for Robbie Fowler in 1995, Freddie Ljungberg for Thierry Henry in 2003 and Harry Kane for Son Heung-min in 2020 (4).
  • Enzo Maresca became the first manager in Premier League history to see his team score six goals in his first away game in the competition. Chelsea scored six goals in an away league game for the first time since April 2022 against Southampton (6-0).
  • Wolves conceded 6+ goals in a single game at Molineux Stadium for the first time since March 2007 against Southampton in the Championship (0-6 defeat).
  • Excluding the relegated teams, no side have suffered more Premier League defeats since the start of last season than Wolverhampton Wanderers (20), who have now won just one of their 19 league games in the month of August since promotion back to the top-flight in 2019 (D8 L10).
  • Nicolas Jackson’s goal after 98 seconds was Chelsea’s earliest Premier League goal since September 2017 against Stoke City (Álvaro Morata, 82 seconds).
  • Nicolas Jackson netted his 15th Premier League goal on his 37th appearance in the competition, the fewest games to reach 15 goals by an African player since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in October 2018 (22 games).
  • Matheus Cunha has scored in back-to-back Premier League appearances against Chelsea having also netted a hat-trick at Stamford Bridge in February; only Raúl Jiménez (5 vs both Everton and Southampton) has scored more goals in the competition against a single opponent for Wolves than the Brazilian’s four against Chelsea.
  • Jørgen Strand Larsen became the seventh player to score on his home Premier League debut for Wolves, and first since Craig Dawson v Liverpool in February 2023 – the striker was the first Norwegian player to net on their home debut in the competition since Hull City’s Adama Diomande in August 2016.
  • Cole Palmer has scored and assisted in six Premier League games for Chelsea, the most of any player in the competition since his debut for the Blues in September 2023.
  • Each of João Félix’s last three Premier League goals have come off the bench, with all three assisted by a fellow substitute (Pedro Neto today, Ziyech against Man Utd and Sterling against Bournemouth).
  • Chelsea named nine players aged 23 or younger in their starting XI today, only the fourth time in Premier League history this has happened. The other instances are Middlesbrough vs Fulham in May 2006 (10), Aston Villa vs Swansea in January 2013 (10) and Chelsea vs Man Utd in May 2023 (9).
