Many of the leading roles are changing in FCS football, as only about one-quarter of last year’s postseason All-Americans return this season. But the talent remains high, especially with the top-ranked programs highlighting the 2024 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Team.
Two-time defending FCS champion South Dakota State and fellow national powers North Dakota State, Montana and Montana State lead the way on the 2024 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America Team.
Mark Gronowski, the 2023 Walter Payton Award recipient as the FCS offensive player of the year, is one of six South Dakota State players on the All-American team. He’s also one of five returnees from last year’s postseason first team, joined by Montana State offensive lineman Marcus Wehr, Central Arkansas defensive end David Walker (a 2022 first-team All-American as well), North Dakota State safety Cole Wisniewski and Merrimack kick returnerDonovan Wadley.
North Dakota State has the high of eight preseason All-Americans, while Montana also has six selections and Montana State five.
All 13 FCS conferences and 60 schools are represented among the 106 All-Americans.
