NBA Data Scientist
Nathan Walker
Nathan was born brainwashed into North Carolina Tar Heels fandom, and rightfully so – his mother attended when MJ played. The son of a collegiate long-jumper, he also loved watching track and field growing up – but mostly loved playing the Konami game Track & Field on his Game Boy. His love of technology and sports came to a head in the late 2000s when he first booted up KenPom.com and it showed in great detail exactly how and why UNC was so good at basketball. Nathan wasted no time writing to Ken Pomeroy about how he should fix his strength of schedule calculation since Memphis was ranked too high for his tastes (Ken gently explained how his metrics already did what Nathan wanted). Nathan eventually went on to write for Basketball Prospectus and Nylon Calculus, before turning his eye to NBA data science in the AI group at Stats Perform. He stans Nick Collison, always and forever.
