UIW’s Lindsey Scott Jr., St. Thomas’ Luke Glenna, Nicholls’ Gavin Lasseigne and Georgetown’s Mason Gudger were selected Monday as the FedEx Ground FCS National Players of the Week for Week 6 college football games through Saturday.
In addition, Butler earned FCS National Team of the Week.

Lindsey Scott Jr., UIW, QB, Grad, 5-11, 212, Zachary, Louisiana
Scott had a first half for the FCS ages against Lamar, completing 23 of 26 (88.5%) pass attempts for 401 yards and seven touchdowns. The TD passes tied the FCS record for one half and matched the Cardinals’ mark for a game, and his passing efficiency (306.9) was the FCS seasonal high. He did not play in the second half.

Luke Glenna, St. Thomas, S, Sr., 5-11, 189, Edina, Minnesota
Glenna doubled up his previous career high with 22 tackles in the Tommies’ biggest win to date in two FCS seasons – 27-16 over Davidson, the two-time defending Pioneer Football League champion. He had 11 solo tackles and limited Davidson to two or fewer yards on seven different stops, including a five-yard loss on a third-down play in the fourth quarter.

FedEx Ground FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week
Gavin Lasseigne, Nicholls, PK, Jr., 5-11, 190, Raceland, Louisiana
Lasseigne kicked a career-high four field goals, including a 43-yarder as time expired to lift Nicholls past Houston Christian 19-17 for its first victory of the season. His career-long 52-yard field goal earlier in the fourth quarter gave the Colonels a 16-14 lead, but HCU went back in front on a field goal with 43 seconds left. Lasseigne accounted for 13 of the Colonels’ 19 points in the Southland matchup.

FedEx Ground FCS National Freshman Player of the Week
Mason Gudger, Georgetown, KR/RB, Fr., 5-9, 175, Greeneville, Tenn.
Gudger, who didn’t have a kickoff return in the Hoyas’ first five games, scored on 94- and 89-yard returns in the third quarter of a 59-28 loss to Penn, becoming the second Patriot League player to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in the same game. On five returns, Gudger finished with 227 yards, matching the FCS season high.

Butler (31-0 over Dayton in Pioneer Football League)
The Bulldogs posted their first shutout win since 2010, ended a seven-game losing streak against Dayton and halted the Flyers’ NCAA record streak of scoring points in 501 consecutive games. Bret Bushka was 25 of 29 for 338 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for another TD. Kody Leach’s end zone interception with 5:40 remaining helped preserve the shutout for first-year coach Mike Uremovich’s 3-2 team.
