● This was the first time Chelsea both scored and conceded 4+ goals in a league game since March 2008 v Tottenham (4-4), the first time Man City did so since January 1961 v Arsenal (4-5), and first time the pair did so against one another in the league since December 1956 (5-4 to Man City).
● In his 882nd game as a manager across all competitions, this was the first time that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola saw his side both score and concede 4+ in the same match.
● This was only the fifth match in Premier League history to see as many as four equalising goals scored, after Everton v Leeds in October 1999, Charlton v West Ham in November 2001, Tottenham v Reading in December 2007, and Liverpool v Arsenal in April 2009.
● Chelsea have won just one of their seven Premier League games at Stamford Bridge this season (D3 L3), their joint-fewest number of wins after their first seven home matches in a league campaign.
● This was the 20th time that Chelsea fell 1-0 down in the Premier League in 2023, the joint-most any side has conceded the first goal in the competition this calendar year (also Bournemouth and Crystal Palace).
● Man City’s Erling Haaland scored his first Premier League goals against Chelsea, meaning he has now netted against 19 of the 21 different clubs he has played against in the competition (90%). In all competitions, the Norwegian has scored 13 of the 15 penalties he has taken for Man City (87%).
● Rodri scored his third Premier League goal of the season, surpassing his tally last term in the competition (2). Nine of his 17 Premier League goals have given Man City the lead in a game.
● Chelsea’s Thiago Silva became only the fourth different player to score a Premier League goal while aged 39 or older, along with Teddy Sheringham, Dean Windass, and Ryan Giggs.
● Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer were the eighth and ninth different players to score in the Premier League against Manchester City after having previously played for them in the competition, after Niall Quinn, Steve Lomas, Garry Flitcroft, Geovanni, Daniel Sturridge, Álvaro Negredo, and Kelechi Iheanacho.
● Cole Palmer’s goal, timed at 94:24, was the latest penalty scored by Chelsea in the Premier League since November 2013 against West Brom (Eden Hazard, 95:18), and the latest on record (from 2006-07) to be scored from the spot against Man City in the competition.
