FCS Team of the Week
ETSU Buccaneers
The East Tennessee State Buccaneers grabbed people’s attention with a near upset of FCS national power North Dakota State in mid-September. But two weeks later, they showed the true grit of this season under first-year coach Tre Lamb.
The Southern Conference squad overcame the adversity of a bus trip in and around areas ravaged by Hurricane Helene, including being stranded for over 12 hours in the mountains of west North Carolina. They went on to capture a 34-17 win at The Citadel to improve to 3-2 behind the rushing of Bryson Irby (126 yards, touchdown) and Khamran Laborn (117 yards, two TDs), and defensive back Jimmy Bowdry’s pick-six.
