Despite studying for a career in sports journalism, David had to pay his dues by working for over a decade in the Civil Service while trying to get his foot in the door of the industry. After Stats Perform presumably attached the wrong name to the wrong CV, he was given a job on the global editorial team, before moving over to Opta Analyst in May 2023 to write about football, while also dabbling in US sports from time to time. Having written a book about Jürgen Klopp, David’s dream is to one day present the German coach with a stat so mind-blowing he gets a hug from the big man. He would also like to own the Dallas Cowboys, the logical next step from Civil Service to sportswriter.
