That’s nine wins from 10 matches in charge across all competitions now for Arne Slot thanks to victory at Selhurst Park. Re-live the action with the key facts and Opta data in our Crystal Palace vs Liverpool stats page.

Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the Premier League on Saturday ensured Arne Slot has made the best start after 10 games of any Reds manager.

The early kick-off was Slot’s 10th game in charge across all competitions and it took him to nine wins, with the only blemish being September’s shock 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.

Slot joined the club from Feyenoord in the summer, taking over from the irreplaceable Jürgen Klopp – the Dutchman has thus far done fine job of minimising the impact of his predecessor’s exit.

The win at Palace, secured thanks to Diogo Jota’s first-half strike, was the Reds’ sixth Premier League win of the season from seven matches and put them four points clear at the top of the table – even if only for a few hours.

Slot has also presided over a couple of games in the Champions League, guiding the Reds to wins over AC Milan and Bologna. They thrashed West Ham 5-1 in the EFL Cup as well.

No prior Liverpool boss has ever taken as many as nine wins from their first 10 matches in all competitions; the previous best was eight victories for Billy Connell and William Edward Barclay, both of whom went unbeaten in their first 10 games at the helm.

The legendary Bob Paisley recorded seven wins in his first 10 matches as Liverpool manager, as did John McKenna.

Klopp took six victories from his opening 10 matches in all competitions, the same figure as Graeme Souness, Joe Fagan, Kenny Dalglish and Roy Hodgson.

While it remains to seen what Slot ultimately achieves at Liverpool, there’s no doubt he’s enjoying an impressive start to life in England.
