Having been hurt by a 97th-minute Manchester City equaliser last week, this time it was Arsenal’s turn to change a result with a goal deep into second-half injury time that downed a brave Leicester City side.
Arsenal had taken a two-goal lead in the first half through Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, and at the break it appeared far more likely that they would run away with the win than Leicester would find a way back into the game.
But two goals in 16 second-half minutes from an unlikely source in right-back James Justin drew Leicester level against the odds.
The hosts pushed hard for a winner for the remainder of the game and eventually found one as Trossard, who was sent off in the draw at City, fired in off Wilfred Ndidi for an own goal to send the home fans into raptures. Kai Havertz added a fourth late on to wrap up a win that should – according to the stats, at least – have been far more comfortable than it was.
