Ipswich Town’s first game back in the Premier League in 22 years ended in defeat as second-half goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah earned Liverpool a 2-0 win at Portman Road.

Salah set up Jota on the hour mark to break the deadlock before scoring himself five minutes later, making it 300 goal involvements for the Egyptian in 350 appearances for Liverpool (212 goals, 88 assists).

It meant Arne Slot became just the second Liverpool boss to win his first Premier League game in charge since the competition began in 1992, after Gérard Houllier in August 1998.
