We look back at tonight’s Premier League London derby at the Emirates Stadium with our Arsenal vs Chelsea stats page. The Gunners secured their biggest ever win over their London rivals in a competitive fixture.

Arsenal 5-0 Chelsea Post-Match Facts

  • Arsenal recorded their biggest ever victory against Chelsea across all competitions (5-0), while this was the Blues’ heaviest defeat in a London derby since losing 6-0 to Queens Park Rangers in March 1986.
  • Arsenal have won three London derbies in the Premier League this season by 5+ goals (5-0 v Crystal Palace, 6-0 v West Ham and 5-0 v Chelsea), the most such victories in a single campaign by a team in English league history.
  • Arsenal picked up their 24th victory of the Premier League campaign; their joint-most after 34 games of a top-flight season. Of the three times they’ve had as many wins at this stage, two of them have come in the last two seasons under Mikel Arteta (also 24 in 2003-04 under Arsene Wenger).
  • Chelsea have conceded 57 goals in the Premier League this season; their most in a single campaign in the competition (overtaking their 55 from the 1994-95 and 1996-97 seasons).
  • Arsenal have gone on to win all 15 games when they’ve been ahead at half time in the Premier League this season, equalling their best 100% record when ahead at the break in a single campaign (also 15/15 in 2013-14).
  • Arsenal had 13 shots in the first half and 14 in the second half against Chelsea (27 in total) – indeed, these are now their two highest shot totals in a half of football against them on record in the Premier League (since 2003-04).
  • Arsenal’s Kai Havertz became the first player to score a brace against Chelsea in the Premier League having previously played for them in the competition.
  • Leandro Trossard’s opener in the fourth minute was Arsenal’s quickest Premier League goal against Chelsea since December 2004, when Thierry Henry opened the scoring after two minutes.
  • Martin Ødegaard has created eight chances for teammates in tonight’s game versus Chelsea (all from open play). That’s a record in a single competitive game for Arsenal by the Norwegian.
  • Chelsea’s starting XI in this game had an average age of 23 years and 169 days, their youngest ever for a Premier League match against Arsenal. Indeed, only Leeds United in 1999-2000 (10) have named more starting XIs with an average age under 24 in a Premier League campaign than Chelsea this term (7).
