“Where’s Gary this week?”

FCS college football fans may be asking that question throughout the 2023 season when two-time Super Bowl champion Gary Reasons makes a weekly on-campus visit to present one of the FedEx Ground national player or team of the week awards.

On Mondays during the season, Stats Perform reviews the previous weekend’s national schedule of games to pick a recipient and honorable mention selections for each of the FedEx Ground FCS National Offensive, Defensive, Special Teams, Freshman and Team of the Week awards. Later that week, Reasons will visit one of the college campuses, where he will be joined by a member of the FedEx Ground team, to congratulate the respective award recipient as part of an in-person presentation and visit.

During “FCS National Awards on Campus,” Reasons will speak to the coaching staff and members of the football team, and provide his insight into the sport. Video of the campus visits and Reasons’ encouraging talks will air during the weekly “FCS Delivered” podcast.

Reasons is FCS royalty, so the players and teams of the 128-school Division I subdivision are in his blood. While playing linebacker at Northwestern State University, he became the first FCS (then known as Division I-AA) player to be named a First-Team All-American in three consecutive seasons (1981-83). He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1996 as part of the inaugural group of small college players.

After his college career, Reasons played nine seasons in the NFL, helping the New York Giants to wins in Super Bowls XXI and XXV. He’s now in his 30th season as a broadcaster, and has long served as Master of Ceremonies and TV Host of the Stats Perform FCS National Awards, presented by FedEx Ground.
