Stats Perform, the sports tech leader in data and AI, announced today FedEx Ground has expanded its support of FCS college football in the 2023 season, including the weekly Top 25 media poll, a national weekly podcast and the season-ending FCS National Awards Banquet, adding to its National Players and Team of the Week Awards, Game of the Week and the Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award.
Stats Perform is a national leader in coverage of the Football Championship Subdivision, home to 128 NCAA Division I institutions, including national powers North Dakota State and South Dakota State and leading HBCUs. As part of the 2022 season, FedEx Ground sponsored the National Offensive, Defensive, Special Teams, Freshman and Team of the Week and the Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award, which since 2015 has been presented to an FCS student-athlete who excels not only on the playing field, but also in the classroom and the community.
The Doris Robinson Award, named after the late school teacher and wife of legendary Grambling State coach Eddie Robinson, and involving all 15 Division I conferences with FCS football programs, aligns with FedEx Ground’s mission to attract and recruit talent. Dayton running back Jake Chisholm received the 2022 honor.
In 2023, FedEx Ground’s increased role in the FCS will include on-campus presentations to various award recipients. It also will present the national FCS Top 25, which teams, fans and media look to each week to see who is on the rise across the sport; “FCS Delivered,” a weekly podcast that will span the nation and be co-hosted by veteran FCS national writer Craig Haley and two-time Super Bowl-winning linebacker Gary Reasons, who was a three-time All-American on the FCS level; and the FCS National Awards Banquet, which is held on the eve of the national championship game in Frisco, Texas.
In addition to the Doris Robinson Award, the longstanding national awards are named for Walter Payton (FCS offensive player of the year), Buck Buchanan (defensive player), Jerry Rice (freshman player) and Eddie Robinson (coach).
“We’re thrilled to receive continued support from FedEx Ground, which has proven to be as passionate about FCS football and its student-athletes as we are,” said Brian Orefice, Stats Perform’s vice president of product for U.S. sports. “The expansion of coverage and engagement should excite everyone in the FCS community.”
FedEx Ground’s sponsorship of FCS college football will appear on TheAnalyst.com and its FCS social media channels. The Analyst is the hub for Stats Perform’s national coverage.
