AFCON 2021 is finally here, seven months later than originally planned due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 24 teams have progressed through qualifying and will battle it out to be crowned the CAF Africa Cup of Nations’ champions across January and February in Cameroon. Ahead of that we have previewed all six groups and focused on all the teams.
The tournament comes just 10 months before the 2022 FIFA World Cup begins in Qatar on 21 November, so all of Africa’s best football nations are keen to make a great start to the year.
Some of the Premier League’s best stars are playing at the tournament, from Liverpool pair Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané, Chelsea goalkeeper Édouard Mendy to Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez.
We’ll be providing unique data-led content all throughout the tournament, from when the tournament kicks off with the group stage, across the round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and all the way through to the final on 6 February at the Olembe Stadium in Yaoundé.
