All-Time FCS Results vs. No. 1 FBS Teams

Charleston Southern is hoping for a solid, if not sweet (16) performance at No. 1 Georgia on Saturday.

The matchup is the 16th between an FCS team and the top-ranked FBS team in the Associated Press poll since the Division I split in 1978.

Charleston Southern, which is closing out a 4-5 campaign under coach Autry Denson, is a considerable underdog coming out of the Big South. The Buccaneers are 0-24 all-time against FBS teams, including a loss to No. 1 Florida and quarterback Tim Tebow in 2009.

This is CSU’s second FBS game this season. The Bucs’ 31-28 defeat at East Carolina on Sept. 25 was their program’s second-closest result against the upper tier in D-I.

The closest FCS vs. FBS result involved Georgia. The Bulldogs beat Georgia Southern 45-21 in 2008.
